Girl Scouts kicked off their cookie sales campaign with a cookie eating contest at the last meeting. The supply of chemicals used to clear the roads of snow and ice in Rappahannock County is rapidly diminishing, according to Resident Highway Engineer Don Askew. As of Tuesday morning, the department had on hand only 100 tons of sand, 350 tons of stone and ten tons of salt. The salt shortage is particularly critical, said Askew.
