Counties, and the John Marshall SWCD, serving Fauquier County, in cooperation with the Rappahannock Conservation Council, have organized and trained a network of volunteers to monitor the health of more than forty streams in the Upper Rappahannock watershed.
The primary focus has been on biological monitoring of these streams, using the Virginia Save Our Streams technique of collecting, identifying and counting the insects and other small creatures that live on the bottom of streams.
If you are interested in finding out more about the monitoring network you can visit the website at http://rappmonitor.va.nacdnet.org or call Melissa Yowell at 825-8591.
