The CCC is meeting Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. each week during the legislative session. During last week’s meeting we got down to the serious business at hand. In the Commonwealth, with a governor limited to four years and a legislature fully functioning for only two months a year, there is no meaningful oversight of the bureaucrats. The legislature, as an institution, provides the only continuity in our Commonwealth government. We must provide the oversight and the policy guidance for state employees.
Freshman delegate, and my friend from Front Royal, Clay At hey suggested the Cost Cutting Caucus press the standing House committees to hold oversight hearings with agencies and departments under their jurisdiction off and on during the ten months that we are not in Richmond passing bills.
