Soccer players needed

Culpeper Comets U-12 travel team tryouts will be held at 5:30 p.m. July 18 at Rappahannock Elementary School, for players born after Aug. 1, 1991. Culpeper Comets play Division II, Old Dominion Soccer League (Northern Virginia area). Home games are in Culpeper. For further information, contact Ginny at 825-2576.

Tryouts for the U-14 Culpeper Comets Travel Soccer Team will be held at St. Luke's soccer field Thursday. July 17, Tuesday, July 22 and Thursday, July 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. To be eligible for this age group, players must be 13 years old or younger on July 31 of this year. Gid Brown revival

The Gid Brown Bible Baptist Church in Washington wftL hold a revival from July 21-22 with Dr. Bobby Roberson and from July 23-27 with Evangelist Jerry Whitehead at 7:30 p.m. Pastor John Burke invites all to attend. There is special singing nightly and a nursery is provided.

Church to hold celebration

Macedonia Baptist Church in Flint Hill invites everyone to its 138th church anniversary, homecoming and revival services Thursday, July 17 and Friday, July 18 at 7 p.m.worship service. Guest preacher will be the Rev. Ronald Chunn, pastor of First Baptist Church in Nelsonville, Ohio. Sunday, July 20 pastor Donald Simpkins will preach the 11 a.m. worship service. The Rev. Maxwell Washington, pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Washington D.C., will preach the 3 p.m. sermon. Lunch will be served following morning worship.

Summer art classes

The Oldway Art Center will sponsor summer studio classes for children ages five to nine on Wednesdays until August 13 and for children ages 10 to 16 on Thursdays until August 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. Persons 17 and older can attend on Fridays until Aug. 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $50 per session.
