Her family is hoping for a few good leads.
When Tammy Thorpe, 20, of Warrenton was found dead at 7:20 a.m. on Oct. 23, 1988, several suspects were interrogated immediately by detectives, but none of them panned out.
In 1991, Fauquier County Sheriff Joe Higgs made a promise to the Thorpe family after he was elected that he would make the case a priority.
“This office has sent detectives as far as Florida and California running leads," Higgs said on Monday. “I feel very close to this case and to the family.”
Since Higgs inherited the murder case, several detectives have also taken up the cause.
In addition, the reward for information leading to a conviction has now been upped by an anonvmous donor from $10,000 to $30,000.
