friends of the Rappahannock (FOR) Executive Director John Tippett opened his remarks by saying, “I bring thanks from 200,000 of your downstream neighbors! I can unequivocally say that Rappahannock County stands head and shoulders above other areas in the Rappahannock River Basin in terms of stewardship."
Tippett said that the biggest challenge to the health of the Rappahannock River is algae, fed by phosphorus and nitrogen. The river’s Lower Basin, where deep water impedes circulation, is particularly vulnerable.
