The Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors has conducted night-time light tests at two county locations to gauge the visual impact of “foot candle power” and measure light intensity that may lead to easing restrictions in a proposed lighting ordinance now before the board.
Under Virginia law the proposed ordinance, officially recommended by the Planning Commission, cannot be made more restrictive without a complete new public1 hearing process. But the supervisors can ease some restrictions or leave them alone, County Administrator John McCarthy said.
