“We make everything we sell here ... waffle cones and bowls, the ice cream, our brownies ... except for the nuts and the candies, and they’re all brand names,” Harvey said.
It’s the combinations of interesting ice cream and the candies, brownies, fruits and nuts that seem to be attracting the customers.
Business has been brisk.
“Yesterday it just didn’t stop,” Harvey said with a smile. “I had someone knocking on my door at 10:30, and we don’t open until 11, but she wanted to get a cake, and I let her in.”
Yet, like all new business owners, Harvey isn’t certain what the future will bring, especially when the weather turns colder.
“Some of our most profitable stores are up north,” he said. “Once winter starts, that’s when we’ll be selling our ice cream cakes that are all made with our ice cream. Our cake decorator has 11 years experience with BaskinRobbins.”

According to Harvey, one feature of Cold Stone Creamery is that the company encourages store owners to help local organizations. Half the proceeds from the grand opening, for example, were headed to the Fauquier Hospital Foundation.
