Two easement gifts to the Virginia Outdoors Foundation, recorded on Dec. 10, protect properties that adjoin one another across the Thornton River in the general vicinity of Castleton and Laurel Mills.
Christopher and Caroline Parrish merged two Tax Map parcels totalling 302 acres into a single parcel, and Russell Carrier, Jr., protected 291 acres. Each easement restricts future division to no more than three tracts.
Rappahannock landscape protected by conservation easements now stands at 18,012 ^ acres — or 13.2 percent of all private land in the county.
