With undisguised enthusiasm, Capt. Brown’s eyes light up as he talks about a program that has become ingrained in his being. “It is not about me, please understand,” he insists. “It is all about the kids that we help . . . the joy that all of us at the Sheriff's Department and volunteers alike feel as we help these children from economically-disadvantaged backgrounds to have a merry Christmas, too.
“Rappahannock is a very generous and giving community,” Capt. Brown continues, “and so many here-and even as far away as Illinois who have heard about the program, eagerly donate money, time and talent to make the annual ‘Shop with a Deputy program a rousing success.”
