Discipline on buses
“We’ve had problems on some buses, but nothing really bad. A lot can happen when a driver doesn’t face the kids like a teacher does,” said Beam. On buses where there have been more problems, cameras have been installed.
In Rappahannock, most of the drivers know the parents of the students they transport, which is a benefit when it comes to discipline on the bus.
“I have some isolated incidents on my bus, but I usually deal with them myself. Of course, I have a close direct relationship with the parents,” said Keyser.
Keyser attributes his lack of problems to having a good rapport with the students. He has driven the same route for 13 years and said he is very fortunate to have a good group of students.
