tudent athletes spend countless hours in a gym, on
a field or mat preparing for their sport. Game day
comes and goes and often no one is there to capture the event for the newspaper.
People are there to watch. Parents are there, family and friends are there, students are there supporting the home team.
Unfortunately, we do not have a large staff which can cover each and every event for the paper. And although we now have a new part-time sports editor and a separate page devoted to sports we need more input from our community.
This is a community newspaper. We need parents, students and coaches to become more involved by sending in sports scores, photos, high scorers of the game, many of the things a community wants to know about its student athletes.
It is important to give our athletes support and have their name in the newspaper, a place where they can find pride in their efforts.
These are the newspaper clips that will be found years to come in scrapbooks and shown to grandchildren.
We need everyone on our team.
