National College
Access Network
While the program is not new within the United States, it is new to this area. Three other Virginia areas already have National College Access Network programs: Patrick County, near Bristol, Va., the City of Alexandria and another in the Tidewater region.
In its goal to establish “college access programs” throughout the state, the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation awarded $966,613 throughout the Commonwealth.
Warren County and Fairfax were also recipients of a grant in the amount of $90,000.
One of the perks with the Cooke foundation involvement is that it will be working closely with each program. It is unusual for a grant provider to provide training, but the foundation will actually be training the new counselor.
