Keyser agreed. “Tiger Valley, now that one is steep. I remember one time I started down that steep hill with ice everywhere and there was a car turned sideways in front of me,” he said.
Keyser was able to cut his bus into a ditch and stop about 12 inches from the car, his first concern being the safety of the children on his bus.
The school bus drivers in Rappahannock have many reasons to want to drive buses. The hours, the pay, the benefits, but the biggest reason seems to be the joy of being with the children.
