The Wakefield Country Day School girls’ basketball team defeated Fredericksburg Academy 51-32 last Thursday to run its record to 5-2 for the season.
After a slow start which saw the Wakefield Owls fall behind 9-5 in the opening period, Chantel Paul and Jordan Hammelman headed off the scoring.
The duo combined for 27 points during the middle frames as WCDS assumed command. Hammelman finished with 22 points and Paul contributed 17.
The girls’ team faced Massanutten Military Academy on Monday adding another win to its record, 4925.
Paul put 19 on the board while Hammelman added 15.
