December of 1956, and school was closed and we never performed the play. We drew names at school, and exchanged gifts, and the teachers let us help decorate the tree, and there was a tree in every room. I remember the paper chains we made and glued together with flour paste, and the cut outs of angels and snowflakes and stars. It was a wonderful time.
