Hitchen took the horse’s body to the Virginia State Veterinary Laboratory in Warrenton for an autopsy.
A gunshot entry wound was found behind Hobo’s lung, in the girth area. Hitchen has expressed doubt that the incident might be a deer hunting accident, mainly because the horse was wearing a blue turnout rug — a fullbody horse blanket — at the time he was shot.
“We don’t know whether it was a stupid prank or a sick joke, or what,” Hitchen said. <
Man borrows truck
without permission
William E. Cameron of Mountain High Road was arrested by Lt. Gary Jenkins on charges of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Violating Bond on Friday, December 16.
Earlier in the month, Cameron, 22, allegedly took a truck registered in his mother’s name against her wishes. Cameron borrowed the truck in order to take money to his wife, who was incarcerated at the Rappahannock County Jail.
After he left with the truck, Jenkin’s mother phoned the RCSD, and Cameron was arrested after he dropped off the money.
This may not be the end of Cameron’s charges for this matter; according to the RCSD Cameron drove off without paying for $25 of gas at the Quicke Mart on his way to the jail.
