Lydagene B. Muth

Mrs. Lydagene Black Muth, 99, a resident of Sunnyside Presbyterian Retirement Community in Harrisonburg, died on Dec. 15.
She was bom on November 12, 1906 in Clarksville, Texas, and was the daughter of the late Judge Eugene and Mamie Coleman Black.
On April 19, 1930 she married George E. Muth at the Sixth Presbyterian Church in Washington, D C.; he preceded her in death on May 17, 1997.
Mrs. Muth graduated from George Washington University; joining the Beta Alpha Chapter of Phi Mu Sorority. She earned membership into the honorary Phi Beta Kappa Society. She was employed with the Library of Congress, Catalogue Division for ten years.
She was a member of the Sixth Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C; the Innerwheel (Rotary DC Ladies) Circle; and the Arts Club of Washington, D.C. She and her husband, George, were active members of Rappahannock Hunt Club and hosted the hunts’ opening breakfast at their home, Stonehaven, in Woodville, Virginia, for many years.
Mrs. Muth is survived by a sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews, numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Private graveside services were on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, MD with Rev. Paul O’Gorek officiating.
