Transportation is converting Rediviva Lane to secondary status. The 77-year-old bridge over the Covington River on the street was Closed in December, sparking protests From neighbors and property owners at the board’s Jan. 3 meeting. McCarthy said he has been told by VDOT administrator David Cubbage that bridge inspectors from Richmond are scheduled to analyze the Rediviva Lane bridge and will present their findings at the board’s March meeting.

The board will touch on proposed legislation in the General Assembly that would trump the authority of local governments to regulate events at farm wineries.

Supervisors will also discuss a resolution to request that the General Assembly and Gov. Tim Kaine provide Rappahannock County Public Schools with “Cost of Competing Add-on” binding, which is currently available to other public school systems in Northern Virginia.
