have noted that “Dead Man’s Chest” lacks the strong plot development of the first movie. However, the effects are breathtaking, and much of the action is choreographed with energy and wit. For example, a chase sequence on a cliff uses visuals that are almost cartoonish and defy the laws of physics. The film recently received four 2007 Oscar nominations, including best art direction and visual effects. While the film is long, it provides plenty of swashbuckling adventure and high-seas entertainment for the audience. And the ending proves to be a cliffhanger and will leave the viewer longing for the third installment of this trilogy. The movie is rated PG-13. Runtime is 150 minutes.
