Cory Caulfield says she is realizing her dream.
Until recently, the Flint Hill artist had planned to return to school with an eye on opening her own gallery sometime in the future.
But that plan was expedited in November when she learned that Tbwn of Washington artist Peter Garon was vacating his gallery on Middle Street, thus opening up room for Caulfield to move to a site she says she has “always loved.”
The Caulfield Gallery and Studio opened quietly on Jan. 19, and the proprietor says she is planning a grand opening for early spring.
“It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do, and I’ve always loved this space,” she said.
The gallery is nestled between the Middle Street Gallery and The Inn at Little Washington, and has a cathedral ceiling with large windows that look out to the building’s rear courtyard.
