My son said I jinxed myself. He said I did it when I wrote about turning the faucet on and expecting water to come out Truth is, the day I sent my last column to the editor, with those fateful words in the first paragraph, turned out to be not such a good day.
That night, one of the few TV shows that I can honestly say that I enjoy, “24,” was about to come on. It was 5 minutes to nine, and I went in to brush my teeth, turned the faucet handle and no water came out. I stood there for a minute, like I must have turned the faucet the wrong way, not believing that water wasn’t coming out like it was supposed to.
I checked the breaker. It was on. I turned it off and on a couple of times and nothing happened. I went over to the tank and the pressure gauge was on zero. I located the pressure switch. I took the cover off and the contacts were closed. That told me the pressure switch was calling for the pump
