last year. Under the Virginia High School League, the organization that governs state athletics, a transfer student must sit out a year before he or she can participate if he or she lives outside of the district or county.
To remain in shape for high school volleyball and continue to refine her skills, Kritter played for various club programs. She is currently a member of the Clash volleyball club in Manassas. That team travels to tournaments throughout the East Coast on weekends.
“This has been the hardest with the season, the traveling, all of it combined,” Kritter said.
She also participated in the US volleyball tiyouts and made the “camp” level team. She spent five playing last summer in Miami.
Rappahannock County should be among the top volleyball programs in the state for the 2007-08 season, as five of the six starters are slated to return. Kritter hopes to better the team’s 23-4 record.
“A state championship,” she said. “We can definitely do it.”
