Caulfield has devoted most of her career to watercolors, but also works with oils, pen and ink, graphite and pastels among other mediums.
She says much of her inspiration and self-study has been focused on American watercolorists such as Winslow Homer and the life-like detail achieved by Dutch and Flemish painters of the 16th and 17th centuries. Caulfield says she also draws inspiration from the natural beauty of Rappahannock.
Other than during the annual Artists of Rappahannock Studio and Gallery Tour, Caulfield has never displayed her work locally before. Her art
