At a reception held at the Germ anna Center for Advanced Technology on Thursday, Jan. 17, Governor Tim Kaine announced the arrival of the company Tferremark Worldwide, Inc. to Culpeper, bringing 250 new jobs to the area.
The event was attended by an array of prominent figures within the Culpeper community, all coming out to welcome this technology mogul to the area. The Governor was welcomed by County Administrator, Frank Bossio and accompanied by the CEO of Terremark, Manuel D. Medina.
"Ibday is a significant day in our history,” said Bossio. “As it marches on to a new economic future for Culpeper.”
Gov. Kaine presented a Virginia flag to Medina to welcome Terremark to Culpeper and continue the partnership that they have founded with Virginia since opening a location in Herndon over a year ago.
“The partnership is ongoing and the friendship is as well, so we welcome you back to Virginia and we are so excited to have you,” said Gov. Kaine.
Terremark, which was founded in 1980, is a leading operator of integrated Internet exchanges and a global provider of managed Information Technology (IT) infrastructure solutions for government and private sectors.
In a video presented by Medina during Thursday’s reception, Terremark is “the future of connectivity, security, convergence, and next generation network services.” They have built the “ultimate virtual marketplace for information and data exchange” and claim to provide services that make communication “better, faster, and more efficient than ever before.”
