Maggie and Fudgie are two of Pat’s favorites and she was happy to make the introductions. These two are never leaving the Lazy S according to Pat. Maggie left once when she was sold and simply cried for months and until the new owner called and arranged to bring her home. A less homesick llama was traded for Maggie and she’s back at the Lazy S! And home is where shell stay.
Fortunately, most of their llamas adjust very well to their new homes and their new jobs. Llamas are sought after for many reasons. The six they sold most recently went to become livestock guardians. People also buy them for their fiber which is woven into amazing woolen goods. Pat and Charlie sell a variety of items made from their wool. I got to see beautiful rugs, throws and socks that feel like your feet could never get cold again. Other llamas go to work as pack animals, therapy animals, show animals and, of course, as pets.
Life with the llamas is busy. In addition to the care and feeding, they’ve participated with the llamas in parades, festivals, nativity.
