Kritter earns
all-state
recognition

Being an all-state selection can be a bit overwhelming.
Just ask Rappahannock County High School junior Elena Kritter.
“I started crying,” said Kritter, who just learned that she received a first-team spot on the Group A state volleyball team as selected by the Virginia High School Coaches Association. “I was really happy. I didn’t think that it would happen.”
This is the first time in recent memory, Rappahannock County athletic J. D. Almond said, that the Lady Panthers have placed a player on the state volleyball team.
Kritter served as an offensive force for the Lady Panthers with a team-leading 347 kills. Rappahannock County captured the Bull Run District and Region B championships this past fall, before losing to Gate City in the state semifinal tournament.
Her most memorable match came against Strasburg. She ' had 24 kills in five games.
“Tve never hit (the ball) so hard in my life,” she added. t This was the first year that Kritter could play for the Lady Panthers. A resident of Culpeper County, she transferred to Rappahannock County to take advantage of the Cambridge academic program
