Connie Smoot, the lead teacher in the Toddler Class at the Child Care and Learning Center, has just been awarded her Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) in recognition of her outstanding work with young children. This credential was awarded by the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition in Washington, D.C., which represents the early childhood profession. The CDA is the only major national effort to improve early childhood education and care by the evaluation and recognition of skills of individuals providing care.
The first credential was awarded over 30 years ago, and now 49 states plus the District of Columbia include the CDA in their childcare license regulations.
