This summer Rappahannock’s Alex Shafran will step onto a field in Maine and have the opportunity to show the country that Virginia soccer is a force to be reckoned with.
Shafran, of Viewtown, plays for Annandale United, a travel soccer team for boys 18and-under. The team won the Virginia Youth Soccer Association State Championships on Nov. 11, and earned a chance to face off against other East Coast teams in a shot at the national title.
