This is the hallmark of his designs and throughout his career. Chandler has garnered design awards and accolades for his homes and commercial buildings.
Starting work at a large architectural firm in New York. Chandler then moved to Washington, D.C. and by the late 60s established his own business in McLean, Virginia. In addition, from 1976 to 1981, Chandler served as a member of the Architectural Review Board in Fairfax County.
During this time. Chandler did architectural work for Dr. Werner Krebser and discovered the beauty of Rappahannock County. It was also at this time that Chandler lost his first wife to cancer and with her passing came a lot of soul searching.
