With nearly everyone returning this season, the Lady Panthers vowed to be title contenders.
Last Friday night, the Panthers were back in the state semi-finals with revenge on their minds.
But once again, those pesky Blue Devils of Gate City, found a way to rally past the Panthers and advance to the VHSL Group A State Championship game with a thrilling five-set victory, 25-21, 22-25, 25-20, 23-25,15-7.
Most of the Lady Panthers were able to force a smile as they walked off the court, but once they hit the sidelines, the disappointment took over. As Kritter broke the team huddle, her father Gene Kritter - also an assistant coach for the Lady Panthers - put his arms around his oldest daughter and the tears began to flow.
“We wanted this so bad,” Kritter said riveting with emotion. “I’m so proud of this team. Most teams say that they are like a family, but this team truly is a family. I love these girls and I really wanted to help everyone on this team win a state title. It hurts so bad right now because we wanted this championship so
