honey. Their fresh pressed cider is superb and they are the only roadside stand that sells hot spicy cider by the cup...a perfect stop on a cold shopping day in the West End. Eddie is one of Sperryville’s well known plumbers and is also on the board of the Rescue Squad.
Both the Emporium and Gore’s are owned and run by two of Sperryville’s older families. Old time families know them well, but if you are one of the newcomers and have not met them, be sure to stop at both places to meet some fine folks and do some shopping.
BROWN-WING’S ART STUDIO: Give a gift that you can’t put into a box, but that will fill the heart and soul of the recipient forever. You read about her a few weeks ago in this paper, Katherine “Kate" Brown-Wing’s studio (across from the Sperryville Emporium in the building that once housed Cooter’s Garage or 11692 Lee Hwy) now offers classes for adults and children. This Victorian Naturalist will offer botanical drawing and painting for adults, weekly from January 9-27,1-3 pm. Classes for 6-10year -olds will be held weekly from January 7 to February 25 and for 10-14 year olds from January 9 to February 27. Children’s classes will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Call Kate at 987-9414 to arrange for a gift certificate, or to enroll yourself One of Kate’s current students, very satisfied with her current course from Kate, called me to recommend that I include this offering.
