Emily had a sensibility beyond her young years. A free spirit, she had friends of all ages, races and talents. “She loved them for their diversity and the gifts that they had to offer,” remarked her mother who gave several examples of Emily’s encouragement to others to seek their passions and live their lives to the fullest.
“What we’re looking for are those students who share the traits of Emily,” said her father, Eric Hilscher. “We want this award to come from “out of the blue” as a surprise..spon^ taneous..to give a student a boost who needs it, like Emily did for so many that she knew.”
