Grahm Rexford Masters
fled the county. He was picked up by police in Nashville, Tenn., on Nov. 6, 2006, under an assumed name.
Reading a prepared statement Dec. 6, Masters asked the court for leniency.
Judge Jeffrey W. Parker sentenced the 26-year-old to a total of 18 years and seven months in jail for the three offenses. Masters will also have to pay a total of $10,000 in restitution for the burglaries. He will be on probation for five years after he is released from prison.
Masters had been in court in Rappahannock several times before being charged with the burglaries in 2006.
In 2001, Masters pleaded guilty to four criminal offenses, including destruction of property at Montpelier. He and two others did an estimated $200,000 worth of damage at the historic mansion in May of 2000. He also pleaded guilty to breaking and entering twice and grand larceny twice in November and December of 2000.
