The cadgers trimmed the lead to four points midway through the third quarter, but again, the Panthers responded, stretching the lead back to seven points by the end of the third quarter.
In the final quarter, the Panthers dominated on both sides of the ball. Rappahannock outscored Tandem 14-4 over the final eight minutes, using a stifling defense.
“We hit the glass more in the second half and didn’t give them many second shot opportunities,” Czekaj said. “We played with a lot more intensity in the second half.” ,, . Tupper scored nine of his ■—team high 14 points m the second half. Dodson added 12 points for the Panthers, while Hogan added 11 points and Jenkins pitched in with nine.
“I love the balance we had offensively,” Czekaj said. “When we’re playing like that, other teams can’t focus on one guy.”
The Panthers also dominated the Badgers in rebounding. Rappahannock had 33 rebounds compared to Tandem’s 19, Will Boelte led the Panthers with 11 rebounds to go along with seven blocks and four points.
“When we hit the glass, we get easy buckets,” Czekaj said. “Tonight, we got a lot of baskets by hustling and rebounding.”
With the victory, the ffenthers improve to 2-3 on the season.
“Things are starting to come together,” Dodson said. ‘We’re starting to work as a team, and that’s going to make us better as the season goes on."
Rappahannock County will return to action on Friday, when they travel to Luray to take on Page County. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pan.
