The Lady Panthers were shorthanded as they played a double-header at the Life & Breath Showcase Tournament on Saturday.
Point guard Noel Johns was out of town for the weekend. Shooting guard Amanda Smoot was missing as well, and then in the first two minutes of their opening game against St. Paul’s School for Girls, they lost a third guard as Megan Wheatley hit her on the floor and was kept out of action for the rest of the tournament.
Without their top three ball handlers, the Lady Panthers offense struggled in game one. They failed to muster any offensive continuity, and St. Paul’s made them pay.
The all girls school jumped out by as many as 40 points, before holding on for a 51-18 victory over Rappahannock County.
