In February 2006, Mustoe went on mission trip with others from the Shiloh Baptist Association churches to Slidell, Louisiana where they slept in a church and helped out with the rebuilding of homes devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Ellen had no construction experience, but she learned to put up sheet rock and plans a return trip to Port Sulphur, Louisiana in January 2008. Port Sulphur is one hour South of New Orleans and was under 25 feet of water during Hurricane Katrina, and everything was washed away. Mustoe, is an instructor for Crossroads Bible Institute which provides Bible studies for prison inmates through the mail, and she volunteers in the ministry department at the Prison Fellowship Office in Loudoun County, opening and sorting mail and typing labels. God has recently called her into a face-to-face prison ministry. In early November, Ellen joined a Kairos team at the Virginia Correctional Center for Women in Goochland, Virginia, and will be returning to the prison one day a
