Different from other types of awards or scholarships, it will not be contingent on grades, essays, or financial need. In fact, there is no application process.

“May be the student is college bound or maybe not,” explained Beth Hilscher who added that they may or may not be the students with the best grades, they may or may not be the most popular or the most mainstream but they must be excited and passionate about theii ' dream. “Maybe they’d like to participate in a workshop, attend a cooking school or try out rodeo school,” continued Beth with a chuckle. The rodeo school idea was a joke between mother and daughter - something that Emily thought might be fun pursuing.

“There are so many things out there in life,” chimed in Eric. “So many things to explore, so many things to get excited about...we’d like to help with those passions and desires - whether they prove successful or not - when they are recognized. Nobody goes it alone, everyone can use a boost.”

While unconventional in structure, the Hilschers are optimistic that once teachers and administrators understand what they’re trying to do, that finding nominees won’t be hard.
