Virginia State Private School finals for a second straight season.
“She’s helped put Highland basketball on the map,” Highland Coach Donald O’Meara said. “Because of her and the rest of our girls, Highland is now a place where you consider going if your serious about girls basketball.”
This season, she’s averaging 10.3 points per game and is second on the team with 16 assists.
“Ella can play anywhere on the court,” point guard Hannah Safren said. “She does it all for us. She’s a terrific shooter. She can handle the ball well, and she’s by far our best defender.”
Every night Miller draws the toughest defensive assignment. Her role is to singlehandedly shut down the opponents’ top scorer.
“Her best asset is by far her defense,” Coach O’Meara said. “She's able to put a lot of pressure on our opponents and more often than not can take away their best player.”
Miller says she’s just doing her job, so the Hawks can . achieve their ultimate goaL
“We want to win a state, championship,” Miller said. “We’ve been so close the past two years. This year, it just feels like there’s only one game that matters. We’ve got to work to get their, but the only thing on our minds is a state title.”
