Sharing her sparkle
Emily Jane Hilscher died in April. She was the
victim of a senseless act of violence. Emily was a
child of Rappahannock County - a place that was near and dear to her heart.
It was here that she rode horses. It was here that she nurtured friendships and it was here that she inspired and energized those who knew her to aim high, dream big and go for the gusto.
Her parents, Eric and Elizabeth Hilscher, and her beloved sister and best friend Erica will be spending this Christmas without her.
In her memory and to celebrate her life, a special award has been established by her parents, administered through Headwaters, and intended to share her passion by recognizing the passion in others.
It's a bit unconventional - not based on grades, written essays or popularity.
