Carnival Next Week
Activity in Amissville accelerates as the community and the fire company join forces in preparation for the forth coming annual carnival next week. The four-night event will begin Wednesday, August 11 and continue through Saturday, August 14. Spectators will be entertained with a fireworks display opening night; a parade is scheduled Thursday night and a queen will be crowned Friday evening. Climaxing the festivities will be the awarding of a host of prizes which includes a 1965 Valiant. There is always a good assortment of delicious food available at the food stand and of course, rides for all ages. Anyone who wishes to contribute food for the carnival may contact Mrs. A. C. Latham or Mrs. Charlie Compton. Especially needed will be fried chicken, deviled eggs, potato salad and cakes or other baked goods.
