Interest collected at the Culpeper Farmers Home Administration office totalled more than $39,032 during the fiscal year ending June 30, 1965. This was more than twice the entire expense of operation of the office, including salaries, for the one year period, stated J. P. Walker, County Supervisor. This office covers a nine-county area which includes the county of Rappahannock. Mr. Walker said that this figure did not include one percent interest received on about $442,317 of insured loans, which would amount to better than $4000 more. Total collections for the fiscal year amounted to $339,763 with over a million outstanding in loans at this time. In addition to direct appropriations by Congress, FHA makes insured loans also.
