They had a hot time at the recent family reunion of the Turner-Cropp clan at Rixeyville, I hear. During the after-; noon, suddenly one of the young er members of the family came dashing into the house asking for a bucket of water to put out the fire in the water melon patch. Assuming he was joking no one paid attention to his plea until finally at his insistance they went outside to find that someone had apparently-Jossed acigaretaway and it had ignited the sawdust mulch in the melon patch.

And there is the Harris Hoi low lady who carried a water melon the first she had all season, to the Lions Club pic nic last Wednesday on Red Oak Mt. When it wasn't cut .(there was such an abundance /of food) she remarked to hen ‘'Husband that she was surely going to enjoy the melon next day. Well, you know those enter prising Lions . . . they decided to auction off the food which was left and someone else enjoyed the melon. Guess the Lady had to scuffle off the hill and get another one.
