The National Championship Country Music Contest will be held at Lake Whippoorwill just east of Warrenton on Saturday and Sunday, August 7 and 8. This is the fifteenth consecutive year for this event which is sponsored by the Warrenton-Fauquier Jaycees. The contests begin Saturday at 6 p.m. and on Sunday start-] ing time is 1 p.m. Admission is $1.50 for adults and 75 cents for children. Guest star for the program will be Connie Smith andl Emcee will be Tom Reeder. Bob Taylor and the Stringdusters will furnish backup music. There will be over $1,200 offered in prize money for the contest and categories include band, banjo, fiddle, male vocal, female vocal, miscellaneous, novelty. Graves’ Mountain Lodge, Syria. Presiding at the punch bowl were Mrs. Ruth Brown and Miss Linda Deal while Mrs. Frances Thornhill and Mrs. Gayle Coates served the wedding cake. Mrs. Rosalind Coates was in charge of the guest book. Mrs. Coates chose a twopiece dress of green dacron with white accessories and a corsage of white carnations for traveling. They have returned from a trip to Ocean City, Md. and are making their home in Etlan.
