SEED WINTER PASTURES August 10th - Sept. 15th says, W. W. Lewis, Extension Agro nomist V.P.I. If to be grazed this fall apply a complete fertilizer to include 32-40 pounds nitrogen per acre; if to be grazed in the spring apply nitrogen dur ing January or early February and phosphate and potash at seeding.' Seed 2-4 bushels per acre when small grain to be used for pasture, silage, or hay. When rye is seeded alone, 2 bu. per acre is sufficient. Farmers find seedings made earlier than above dates frequently are damaged by disease.

•**•*•*•*•** Lt. Col. Norman Wilbur and Lt. Commander Lowell Archer of Slate Mills were somewhat put out by not being included in our “Colonel Coun ty” list. Lowell felt too I was slighting the Navy. My apologies boys! You know during W.W. II, I was but a Captain -- slaved for the light weights then and still am as a “civvy." Col. Biddle got a big charge out of the article and asked if he could “swipe it". Also find there is a Lt. Col Hall back in Jenkins Hollow. Know any more?
