Alice R e e s m a n, the Tam O’Shanters have achieved prominence throughout the eastern United States by performing before millions in St. Patrick’s Day Parades in Philadelphia and New York City. They were Santa's escort in Gimbel’s traditional Thanksgiving Day Parades in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. The Tammies have also represented Pennsylvania in the National Soap liox Derby at Akron, Ohio's Derby Downs. They opened the 1964 profootball season with an open field drill in Pitt Stadium for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Included among their trophies are the coveted TriState Majorette Drill Championship and the Judge’s Trophy, awarded for excellence over a field of 300 in Pittsburgh in 1964. They have been nationally televised and featured locally by western Pennsylvania stations. On Saturday, July 31, the Tam O'Shanters performed in the Court of the Universe at the New York World’s Fair, The carnival will conclude Saturday night with the awarding of the grand prize and other prizes.
