According to information received from the Virginia State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, that organization will sponsor the Virginia State Turkey Calling Championships and the MidAtlantic Open Calling Championships. Both contests will be conducted on Saturday, October 8, 1977 at the James Wood High School on Route 50 in Winchester.
Events scheduled on that date include: 8:30 a.m.Exhibits Open and Registration; 9:30 a.m.Calling and Hunting Seminar; 10:00-1 l:00-Film, “Call of The Wild Turkey” produced by Richard Smith of Blain, Pa.; 11:00 a.m.12:30 p.m.-Virginia State Championship Calling Contest; 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m.-Lunch available on premises.
Following a second showing of the turkey film at 1:45 p.m., the Mid-Atlantic Open, Turkey Calling Championship will commence beginning at 3:00 p.m. The activities for the day are scheduled to conclude at 5:00 p.m. Further information pertaining to the October 8th events is available from Michael N.
