A troop or a den can be managed adequately on four to five hours of time a week, if that’s all a volunteer is able to give. The rewards are enormous when measured in terms of personal satisfaction. These children are the future of this county. By involvement in their growth, leaders are helping to mold that future.
Rappahannock has limited recreational facilities for youngsters. The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, the Brownies, the Webelos and the Cubs help to fill a real need. In the scouting programs, children have fon and at the same time, learn responsibility, citizenship and the importance of consideration for others through community service projects. It would be a shame to see this fine program curtailed because we can’t find a few people willing to donate just a few hours a week.
