Social Security
People can get help, free of charge, in getting in* formation from their social security record, according to Bruce Hundley, social security branch manager in Culpeper.
"Some private organizations are charging fees to help people get information from Government records,” Hundley said. “But you don’t have to pay anyone to help you get information from your social security record. Any social security office will be glad to help you without charge.”
Under the law, people generally can get information that’s under their name and social security number in records kept by the Social Security Administration.
People can get a report of earnings credited to their social security number, free of charge, by filling out and mailing a "Request for Statement of Earnings” form that is available at any social security office.
