A fifty dollar Savings Bond will be awarded Sunday, February 26 to the best young singer and the best instrumentalist ' in Rappahannock County. Students of high school level or below who either attend school or live in Rappahannock County are eligible to compete in the Bland Music Contest. There is no minimum age.
Sponsored by Lions Clubs in Virginia, winners will compete for the SI000 Bland scholarships which are awarded to the state winners. The scholarships are named after James Bland, composer of the Virginia State song, "Carry Me Back To Ole Virainny.”
